SPARK TEST
1.Remove the engine cover(A).
2.Remove the engine cover bracket(A) and the ignition coil(B).
3.Remove the fuel pump relay(A) from the fuse box for fuel not to be injected while checking.
4.Using a spark plug socket, remove the spark plug.
5.Install the spark plug to the ignition coil. (1.6 CVVT)
6.Ground the spark plug to the engine.
7.Check if spark occurs while engine is being cranked.
Do not crank engine for more then 5~10 seonds.
8.Inspect all the spark plugs.
9.Using a spark plug socket, install the spark plug.
10.Install the ignition coil.
11.Install the engine cocer.

Specification: 12V is measured only for approx. 0.5sec
5. Is resistance within specifications?
▶ Go to "Check Supplying Power to solenoid valve" procedure
▶ Check for open in harness. Repair as necessary and Go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure
▶ If signal circuit is OK,Substitute with a known-good PCM/TCM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace PCM/TCM and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Check Supplying Power to Solenoid Valve Harness
1. Ignition "OFF"".
2. Disconnect the "A/T CONTROL RELAY" and PCM/TCM connector
3. Measure the resistance between terminal "3" of the "A/T CONTROL RELAY" harness connector and terminal "49, 50" of the PCM/TCM harness connector

The ECM monitors engine speed deviation from the target idle engine speed when the vehicle is stopped and the throttle valve opening is stable. The ECM sets DTC P0507 if the difference to the target idle engine speed is higher than the predetermined threshold.

2.Remove Intake Hose and inspect Throttle Plate for excessive carbon deposits.
3.Is Throttle Plate being held open with excessive carbon deposits?
YES
1)Replace or repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
NO

1.Visually/physically inspect the air leakage in intake/exhaust system as following items,
-Check for throttle Plate being held open with excessive carbon deposits
-Vacuum hoses for splits, kinks and improper connections.
-Throttle body gasket
-Positive crankcase ventilation valve for improper installation, damaged o-rings and malfunctioning .
-Gasket between intake manifold and cylinder head
-Seals between intake manifold and fuel injectors
-Exhaust system between HO2S and Three way catalyst for air leakage
2.Was a problem found in any of the above areas?
YES
▶ Replace or repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
NO

2.Remove ISCA from Throttle body and Check for throttle bore, throttle plate and the ISCA passages for chocking and for any foreign objects. Repair or clean as necessary.
3.Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF".
4.Connect scan tool and select "IDLE SPEED ACTUATOR" parameter on the "ACTUATION TEST" mode.
5.Activates ISCA by pressing "STAT" key.
6.Check the ISCA for clicking sound and visually verifying valve closes and opens.

General Description
Auto repair nad Study guide At Commom rail diesel engine, rail pressure regulator is controlled based on rail pressure sensor signal in order to maintain optimum rail pressure according to current engine rpm and load.
however when a trouble, which leads rail pressure to out of target value intended by ECM, occurs due to mechanical or electronical reason, ECM shuts engine down and sets DTC by limiting fuel (stops injector operation) in order to prevent engine from being controlled abnormally. "rail pressure monitoring error" is the DTC which diagnose 1).supplying state of low pressure fuel and 2).mechanical operating conditions of high pressure pump and rail pressure regulator indirectly based on rail pressure sensor output voltage and rail pressure sensor duty. thus, repair relavant to this DTC requires mechanics the total understand of fuel system
DTC Description
When rail pressure is lower than target rail pressure, ECM tried to raise rail pressure as decreasing fuel press. regulator current(increasing fuel supplied to common rail). If meeting real fuel pressure to target pressure is failed to achieve, P0087 is set.
When this code is set, check possible causes which decrease fuel pressure such as 1)close stuck of fuel press. regulator, 2)lowered efficiency of high press. pump, 3)fuel leakage, 4)excessive returning quantity of fuel from injector, 5)clogged low press. pump filter.

1.The output voltage of CKPS signal varies according to rpm(the speed of tone wheel passing by sensor)
(low voltage is inducted for low speed and high voltage is inducted for high speed.)

If minimum detecting voltage is set low for the ease of signal detection at low rpm, 1) the abnormal signal at high rpm from which high voltage generates or 2) electrical NOise through circuit can be recognized as Crank signal. 2.With the shift lever in N or P (A/T) or clutch pedal pressed (M/T), turn the ignition switch to "START"
If the starter normally cranks the engine, starting system is OK. If the starter will not crank the engine at all, go to next step.
If it won't disengage from the ring gear when you release key, check for the following until you find the cause.
A.Solenoid plunger and switch malfunction.
B.Dirty pinion gear or damaged overrunning clutch.
3.Auto repair and Study guide ,Check the battery condition. Check electrical connections at the battery, battery negative cable connected to the body, engine ground cables, and the starter for looseness and corrosion. Then try starting the engine again.
If the starter cranks normally the engine, repairing the loose connection repaired the problem. The starting system is now OK.
If the starter still does not crank the engine, go to next step.
4.Disconnect the connector from the S-terminal of solenoid. Connect a jumper wire from the B-terminal of solenoid to the S-terminal of solenoid.
If the starter cranks the engine, go to next step.
If the starter still does not crank the engine, remove the starter, and repair or replace as necessary.
5.Check the following items in the order listed until you find the open circuit.
A.Check the wire and connectors between the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the ignition switch, and between the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the starter.
B.Check the ignition switch (Refer to ignition system in BE Group).
C.Check the transaxle range switch connector or ignition lock switch connector.
D.Inspect the starter relay.
Auto repair Starter Solenoid Test
1.Disconnect the field coil wire from the M-terminal of solenoid switch.

Free Running Test
1.Place the starter motor in a vise equipped with soft jaws and connect a fully-charged 12-volt battery
to starter motor as follows.
2.Connect a test ammeter (100-ampere scale) and carbon pile rheostats as shown in the illustration.
3.Connect a voltmeter (15-volt scale) across starter motor.
4.Rotate carbon pile to the off position, Auto repair.
5.Connect the battery cable from battery's negative post to the starter motor body.
6.Adjust until battery voltage shown on the voltmeter reads 11.5volts as Study guide.
